The consequences of the flood disaster are enormous. Many people died or are still missing – and many families have lost their homes and all their belongings. The stern foundation wants to support those affected. 100,000 euros in emergency aid are already on the way.
Seldom before has a weather-related situation in Germany claimed so many lives as the flood disaster last week. The water levels at dams have led to floods, entire regions are still without electricity and mobile communications, and some of the rail traffic is idle. Not only Chancellor Angela Merkel but also US President Joe Biden showed sympathy for those affected. ‘It is a tragedy and our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones,’ he said in Washington last week.
People are still missing and the number of deaths is increasing, families have lost their homes and all their belongings. The regions of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria are particularly affected. Angela Merkel took the opportunity to promise help to the people affected after the flood disaster. ‘We will not leave you alone in this difficult, terrible hour and will also help when it comes to reconstruction,’ promised the Chancellor. The suffering of those affected is very close to her. July 15th was a day of fear for life and property, a day of worry and despair. Hundreds of thousands should have seen houses become ‘death traps’.
100,000 euros of emergency aid are on the way
The stern foundation will support those affected and is dependent on donations for this. Any amount helps. You can find the bank details above. Thanks to all people who have already donated or who will donate!
We promise that the money will go where the need is greatest. 100,000 euros of emergency aid are already on the way, which we are giving to our cooperation partner, the ‘Stiftung RTL – We help children e. V. ‘, transfer. The aid will benefit the German Red Cross, which is currently distributing power generators, blankets and supplies to those affected. In addition, the emergency aid is helping to rebuild two private daycare centers in Swisstal and Stolberg. Other institutions that we will help will follow.
