The Emmys will be awarded in Los Angeles on September 19th. The royal series ‘The Crown’ from the streaming provider Netflix can look forward to a flood of 24 nominations. Also the spin-off of ‘Star Wars’–‘The Mandalorian’ – receives 24 chances to win one of the coveted prizes.
Two series will be the focus of the Emmy Awards in 2021: The Netflix series ‘The Crown’ and the Disney + series ‘The Mandalorian’ have both garnered nominations in 24 categories, such as the ‘This is Us’ actor Ron Cephas Jones, 64, and daughter Jasmine Cephas, 31, announced on Tuesday.
‘The Crown’ nominated for best drama series
Just behind the two top-nominated series is the sitcom ‘WandaVision’, which received 23 nominations. ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ can look forward to 21 nominations.
‘The Crown’ and ‘The Mandalorian’ are also nominated in the main category ‘Best Drama Series’. They are joined by ‘Bridgerton’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, ‘The Boys’, ‘Pose’, ‘Lovecraft Country’ and ‘This is Us’. The ‘Best Comedy Series’ category includes ‘Emily in Paris’ and ‘The Flight Attendant’. ‘I May Destroy You’, ‘Mare of Easttown’ and ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ compete for the prize for the ‘Best Miniseries’.

It’s also raining nominations for the actors and actresses: Kaley Cuoco, 35, has been nominated for ‘Best Actress Comedy’ for her role in ‘The Flight Attendant’. Michael Douglas, 76, for ‘The Kominsky Method’ or Jason Sudeikis, 45, for ‘Ted Lasso’ can hope for the award for ‘Best Actor Comedy’.
In the ‘Best Actress Drama’ category, ‘The Crown’ colleagues Olivia Colman, 47, and Emma Corrin, 25, compete. Regé-Jean Page, 31, from ‘Bridgerton’ and Billy Porter, 51, from ‘Pose’ can look forward to the men.
The Emmys, the TV equivalent of the Oscars, will be awarded on September 19 in Los Angeles. This time, the comedian Cedric the Entertainer, 57, will lead the evening in front of an audience, unlike last year.
